Participants in this essential session for the experienced livestock
inspector or reviewer will:
1) Increase skills in what livestock inspectors should look for during
2) Gain understanding of input assessment by examining how the Organic
Materials Review Institute (OMRI) reviews materials. (www.omri.org).
OMRI will provide the technical expertise of Lindsay
Fernandez-Salvador, OMRI Program Director, as lead presenter.
IOIA/OMRI Livestock Inputs is an intermediate level course geared for
persons with an understanding of NOP Livestock standards and farm
or certification, preferably having completed an IOIA basic crop
inspection course. The course is
comprised of 3 components: self study,
webinar, and evaluation. The self study component includes exercises
that are completed and submitted to the Trainer in advance of the
webinar and encourages participants to prepare and explore resources on
the website applicable to crop assessment. The webinar
session consists of 2 parts, each 1.25
hours long with a break between.
This component includes in-class discussion, examples, exercises and
the opportunity for questions and answers. The course concludes with an
exam to evaluate individual learning.
Participants will receive an individual subscription to OMRI
(additional mailing costs may apply outside USA). If are interested in
the course but have not completed a crop course, please contact IOIA
Scheduling: The course may require 2-4 hours to complete self study
exercises in advance of the webinar (May 14th, 2012 deadline) and
approximately 1-1 ½ hours to complete evaluation
exercise after the webinar (May 22nd, 2012 deadline).
Certificate: Letter of Participation will be awarded to all who
participate. Those who submit self study exercises by completion
deadline and successfully complete a written post-assessment will
receive a Certificate of Completion.
